Hieizan I

A telephone pole found it’s way back to it’s origins: painted, labeled and with metal branches. Grass following the path of the winds, renewing itself every season to reveal it’s delicate beauty. A battered shed at the Kyoto rope-way summit. A weathered, foreign telescope withstands the elements. Shades of blue cascading towards the horizon. This series was shot on the summit of Mt. Hiei above Kyoto, Japan. It was a chilly and overcast Autumn late afternoon just after the blue hour set in. For over a thousand years this mountain range with it’s temple Enryaku-ji has been a spiritual hub for Buddhists.
